People on here have been unfair to Mervyn . The Queen and now Charles the Third symbolise bourgeois state power and the monarchy is fused with the capitalist class .
In actual fact the monarchy does retain considerable powers , after all , it is Her Majesty 's government . The government is accountable to the monarch .
