This brooch was in the Cartier exhibition. The rubies are eye catching, and the jewel, when seen in reality, is much more attractive than my photos suggest.





The palm tree motif recalled to my mind the emerald palm tree brooch worn by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. I wonder if Cartier also made that brooch?

I also suspect that the emerald palm tree brooch was part of Mrs Greville's jewels. The earliest photos I have so far of HM wearing this jewel are from the 1947 South African tour.
