The estate of Count Oscar Bernadotte of Wisborg who passed away a few months ago is auctioning off some items including this brooch said to have belonged to Queen Josefina of Sweden and Norway. After her death it was inherited by her son King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway, his son Prince Oscar Bernadotte, his daughter Elsa Cedergren, her brother Count Carl Bernadotte and then his son Oscar Bernadotte.
Prince Oscar's wife, Princess Ebba is seen wearing the brooch on their gold wedding celebrations on March 5 1938.
The brooch is made of gold and silver and 10 cm long. It has 9 ct diamonds set "à la trembleuse" and can be divided into three pieces. It was made by Court Jeweller Gustaf Möllenborg around 1860 and comes in a box together with a set of hair and brooch pins.
