Re: Forgotten pieces. Diana Astor's tiara
I assumed that the tiara worn by Diana Astor for her marriage was an Astor tiara. (I confess I initially thought that Astor was her maiden name!)
The tiara was an heirloom in her family. She was a daughter of George Drummond, head of Drummonds bank, a significant private bank.
One newspaper noted that Diana Drummond was a friend of Princess Margaret. For whatever reason, Princess Margaret didn't attend the wedding; Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone did.
Given the wealth of the Drummond family I suspect that this tiara is still with the family.
