The lady in Janet's image is Alice, Lady Wimborne. Both she and her mother in law were said to have magnificent rubies.

The photo appears to have been taken prior to her husband's appointment as Viceroy of Ireland in 1915.

It was published in society magazines in 1917.





I suspect that the principal stones in the tiara and necklace are the rubies.





In later years Alice, Lady Wimborne commissioned a very modern ruby and diamond tiara by Chaumet.
