Regards,
Dave.
I too have thought that the diamond loops from the brooch may have contributed to this necklace, and I remember discussing it on here a few years ago. While Queen Mary's necklace looks similar, I now think the diamonds in that are much larger than the diamonds in Princess Alexandra's necklace.

In my folder on the necklace, the latest picture I've found of Princess Alexandra wearing the necklace was at a Gala Performance at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden on the final evening of the Nepalese State Visit to Britain in 1960 , just days after she wore the necklace on her big tour to give Independence to Nigeria . I find it quite odd that it was not worn for for her big visits to Japan, Burma, Hong Kong or Sweden before her wedding, and that it was never pictured worn with her Ogilvy Tiara.
I've been collecting images of the necklace for years but had not made the connection until recently that it, unlike many of her jewels, hasn't been seen since the 60s. I wonder what became of this necklace, since the diamond riviere that Princess Alexandra has worn from the 1950s until the late 2000s has much larger diamonds, and I don't recall any jewels that have the same diamond or pearls as the ones suspended on the necklace.
