I would love to know if Princess Anne's pearls have a previous history or if the set was purchased for her.
I have often wondered if the ruby, pearl and diamond buckle brooch perhaps came from Queen Mary, who we know owned at least 2 of these brooches. So far I haven't found a photo of Queen Mary wearing this particular brooch. The style of brooch was popular around the turn of the twentieth century.
I have only ever seen Princess Anne wear this brooch to secure her sash on formal occasions.
