On May 6th the Royal Family attended the Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Cathedral and all of us have probably seen either photographs or paintings from this event. Queen Mary was of course wearing magnificent jewels even though it was a day event and thus no tiaras were worn - at least not to the cathedral. We know that King George "favoured" the ladies wearing tiaras for dinner, so I am sure that even more glitter would have been seen that evening, although I cannot see that this was a public event but rather a private dinner.
Queen Mary wore the Chain Link bracelet as a choker together with several diamond rivières. Beth had a very interesting post on the Chain Link bracelet as used in the connection with this day, see https://mb.boardhost.com/historyroyaljewels/msg/1548579446.html.
The earrings seem to be Queen Alexandra's Pearl and Diamond cluster earrings she received for her wedding. In her hat Her Majesty wore more diamonds; the Cullinan V brooch. And to fasten the Sash of her Order of the Garter she wore a Diamond Bar brooch.
I have not been able to spot whether the Queen wore any bracelets, but I would not be very surprised if she did. Has anybody seen any jewels around Queen Mary's wrists?
Also, I am not quite certain about the additional order worn by the Queen. Could it be the bow of the Royal Family Order of King George V?
The present Queen, now soon celebrating her 70 years on the throne, was also present at the 1935 jubilee. It is said that she and her sister received as a gift from her grandfather, the King; a pearl necklace each (See https://members2.boardhost.com/royal-jewels/msg/archive/1404867903.html)
The King himself looked very smart (like he always did) in his Field Marshal's uniform. With it he wore the Collar and Breast Star of the Order of the Garter and the Sash and Breast Star of the Order of the Thistle. Also around his neck he is seen wearing the Victorian Chain and the Neck-tie of the Order of the Bath.
Now, on this day in 1935 (May 9th) the King and Queen gave a grand State Dinner at Buckingham Palace. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any information about this. Does anybody have any details on this event? I am very intrigued as to what was worn (if that was mentioned in any of the press outlets of the day).
