Royal Service, Volume II notes:
"King George VI's Family Order was suspended from a pink watered ribbon the same width as that of his father but only made in the two sizes. Two Large and five smaller badges were supplied by Garrard in May 1937 an the first presentations were made by the King at a family lunch at Buckinham Palace two days before the coronation." Page 36.
While the badge of the George V Family Order were surrounded by round "brilliant cut" diamonds, George VI's badges were surrounded by 16 "brilliant cut" diamonds in pairs, seperated by 8 rectangular "baguette cut" diamonds.
