I am very technologically challenged (as the saying goes) Dave. I hope that someone will know about such things, but I suspect to get colour in black and white photos it would be a matter of laboriously doing the detail with a program such as Photoshop.

You are correct Dave. Queen Mary was wearing the large, so called Russian sapphire brooch. It was frequently worn by QEQM and in recent years by QEII.

I am not sure what the pear shaped pendant was in the photo of Queen Mary wearing the brooch. Does anyone have ideas?

I think the first time QEII wore the brooch was for her meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican, but I am sure that others will have more information than I have on when QEII has worn the brooch.

Good spotting Beth, the choker/ bracelet is an impressive piece as are all of QM's jewels. I wonder if their is not an app where we could put black and white pictures in colour as I am aware the technology exists and that's the only way I can decipher. Beth in your 04th picture, is QM not wearing the Russian sapphire broach with a pear shaped gem attached? Please look again and see if my observation is correct.

    Regards,

    Dave.
