Princess Marina wearing the Greek Ruby Parure

I featured the Greek Ruby Parure, HERE, to mark the 95th Anniversary of the Death of Queen Olga today, and wanted to share with you all this splendid discovery of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent wearing the Parure for a stunning portrait around 1949. The signed picture was auctioned earlier this year
What a beautiful parure and on such a beautiful lady.
Thank you for your fantastic article. Do you mind me asking the source for the daughters of Princess Nicholas' being upset at their mother passing these jewels to the Greek King? I can certainly understand why they may have been irritated if their mother **gave** the parure to King Paul, after all I believe both Marina and Olga had financial problems by this point but a sale seems perfectly reasonable and inevitably the parure would either need to be sold or left to one of the daughters, which may upset the other two.
I find it hard to believe though the photograph was taken in 1949 or even in the 1940s unless this photograph was airbrushed beyond recognition.

I suspect that the date refers to when the photo was signed and given rather than when it was taken which would have been at an earlier date.
And a very interesting article on the subject. I seem to recall that it was said in a documentary a long time ago (in the 1990s or early 2000s) sent on Norwegian television that Queen Anne Marie actually forgot to bring some of her jewels when they left Greece. Even though they were already packed. The queen stated this herself.
I think it had something to do with her being more occupied with bringing clothes for the children. Does anyone remember such an interview? It’s a long time ago, so I might remember it incorrectly.
Most likely it was smaller, more personal jewels though. Because she wore the rubies already at Benedicte’s wedding.
Does anyone else remember this documentary? It’s a long time ago, and the vhs I recorded it on is probably long gone.
I believe I have seen the documentary you have alluded too, but from what I gathered the now absent Queen and king got the jewels out of the country early or did some deal with the Greek proxy government that they could retain the jewels after they were dethroned.
