Who found the material originally Posted by Beth on April 7, 2023, 6:29 pm I would like to draw attention to the fact that our fellow poster, Franck, was the first to identify what happened to Queen Mary's amethyst parure after her death. I recollect that Franck initially posted it on the RJWMB, but I cannot find the thread now. Since that board let its subscription lapse several times, it is now an uphill battle to find things. I am doing this post as a matter of ethics to remind everyone of the earlier posts, but I do not have the time to trawl through thousands of RJWMB posts. It appears that while the tiara,earrings,necklace & ring were inherited and subsequently sold by Pss Margaret, the amethyst brooch made from the Burkett Coutts wedding gift was very likely inherited by Queen Elizabeth II, and seen in photos posted by Frank in this link responding to Dave https://mb.boardhost.com/historyroyaljewels/msg/1612014736.html

Who found the material originally" Britishroyaljewels wrote a post on Instagram last week about the origins of this parure. https://www.instagram.com/britishroyaljewels/ According to him, the parure was bequeathed to Queen Mary by Princess Catherine of Württemberg, but the parure (or the stones) was originally owned by Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III. Princess Catherine was a cousin of Queen Mary's father, and the families were close. As far as I can see no source information is given to support the assertion that Queen Mary received the amethysts in 1899 from Princess Catherine of Wurttemberg, (she died in 1898) or that these amethysts belonged to Queen Charlotte. If there is definite proof for these claims, why not mention them?

" In 2012 for the Skyfall film premiere when Camilla wore the heart shaped amethyst necklace she wore amethyst earrings of unknown origins. She has also worn them with her other amethyst necklace.

" Queen Camilla also has a choker with amethysts in the clasp, which she has worn with the large earrings. Unfortunately, no matter what I do at present, Photobucket has decided it needs complete rest for the time being.
