Apparently this darn form has arrived at the Melaque post office. If you use a Mexican mailing address with Uncle Sam and don't have a PO box, my post applies to you. Gustavo used to pick up all mail for LM residents, including foreigners, and we would go to his house to get it. His brief replacement has "retired." Is there anyone in La Manzanilla who is willing to go to Melaque to pick up everyone's form? You might need our IDs, but there is no need to sign for mail that does not include checks. In fact, I am willing to go with you to share the hassle. Please contact me at lunalena49@gmail.com if you are able to serve as a Good Samaritan. TIA

I have never received this form in the mail. I have always gone online and downloaded it from ss.

That's what I usually end up doing, then give the completed form to a friend to mail it back from the States. But my courier isn't here now. How do you send yours back?

It's not the annual darn form after all, but a notice from the SSA that benefit checks will no longer be sent to Mexico. I'll contact the FBU tomorrow to find out if this new edict also applies to direct deposits to Mexican banks. Good grief!

FBU sent me a notice stating that my benefits would not be sent to my Intercam account and that I needed to find an alternative bank. It would be worthwhile to speak with the manager. This is likely a temporary position. After the inspectors have done their audit, and the penalties have been applied, I suspect that things will be back to the previous routine of depositing directly to accounts in Mexican pesos. The manager might provide some insight into how long this process might take. Ojala.

Thanks for the clarification. Since my account is with Banamex, I shouldn't be affected, but I'll check with the FBU anyway.

I received my SS payment into my INTERCAM account a week ago! Perhaps the situation has changed since then?
