Your daughter is looking at playing softball at the highest collegiate level as one of the most important things in her young life for the next four years. You have to realize there are few players who actually receive a "FULL" ride to play in college. Most of them are pitchers, catchers and the monster hitter. The rest of the team will get a partial ride. There are plenty of creative avenues the schools have for grant money and other financial help opportunities. But that's not a guarantee. I would bet Bill Conroy or Jerry Quinn can you with some realistic numbers as far as the percentages go. She needs to approach playing ball in college as a job opportunity working to get as much of her best education paid for as possible. Getting out of college with a strong degree and relatively debt free puts her way ahead of most of her contemporaries. She has the potential to make millions over the course of her lifetime with her education. I know my daughter had less than $20K in student loan debt when she finished after her scholarship and grants the school had her apply for. Good Luck to her.
