One of the things that make message boards work is the opportunity for threaded, multi-participant discussion in a topic-specific environment. It’s what makes boards still viable in the age of X/Twitter, which is abundantly riddled with reflective trigger analyses of “you suck!”, “you’re dumb!”, etc.
I suggest that there are better places for the intellectually lazy degradation of character and imputation of motives. Perhaps you’d consider an X account (or a pen pal at a federal facility)?
An example of an alternative response, one that would actually inform our audience and perhaps lead to more enlightened outcomes, would be:
“I don’t agree with this idea. Here’s why {insert rationale and supporting evidence}. What about this alternative?”
