Marist HS

All the sympathy in the world to the players/girls, but I have zero sorrow for Marist CB.
She gets handed Bandits and Chill players year after year, gives them all starting positions, and everyone acts like she is coach of the year, year after year.
Shes massively unimpressive.
Another state run let down!
Wish I could feel bad for her!

I've been on here for more years than I'd like to admit, and every year for the High School season, it is the same for Marist, heavily favored Chill Bandits, and bam, upset... Year after year

Does Bill Conroy Bandits teams win PGF nationals every year? How about OU softball? LeBron James? Patrick Maholmes?

Marist is a legit contender every year. These teams and players don't play for runner up.

Marist ran into a LW West team that is graduating 7 starting seniors, plus Coach Novak had that team peaking at the perfect time.

Every time Marist got something going, the LWW pitcher and defense shut them down. This was the 2nd time the LWW pitcher shutdown the Marist offense.

Both the LWWest pitcher and the Marist pitcher let up one earned run in both of the championship games they played in. Outstanding performances from both pitchers.

Why didn’t she put the other pitchers in for the boobie game today. This game meant nothing so put the other girls in. Marist will be back next year again since they are a solid team and I think only 2 girls are leaving. It’s all about pitching and who gets hot.

Your belief is that the 3rd place game in state is meaningless? The coach should put out the B squad because it’s not 1st or 2nd place?

Only 8 teams in the state of Illinois end their season with a win out of 300 plus teams. By your logic they should have forfeited that game and gone home. Their season is a failure. All the work and time they put in for that season was meaningless. Mundelein should throw their trophy and medals out. Their second place finish is just a participation award.

Winning state is really hard. Lots of things have to go right. The most talented team is not always the team that wins. At the end of the day we’re talking about children playing a game they hopefully love. The most important lessons that softball teaches us have nothing to do with wins and losses on the field.

I’d guess Marist was disappointed they were playing in the championship game. I don’t personally know any of them. But when reality punches you in the mouth do you give up and leave or do you fight back?

The home plate umpire during that game favored Marist big time. Marist was getting 6-8” on the outside corner the entire game. That is the reason West only had three hits in the game. That umpires zone was completely different when West was pitching. LWW still overcame that terrible home plate umpire . The West pitcher was incredible despite the very small strike zone when Marist was hitting. That home plate umpire was handing Marist that game on a platter.

Marist made some poor coaching decisions. West’s NC State commit stole home with runners on first and third. Marist should have conceded 2nd base in that situation, there were already two outs and two strikes on the batter when West stole home. West had a runner on 3rd base that has been doing first and 3rd plays with the Bandits for 10 years and Marist tried to get cute. That was a poor decision.

West played better defense when it mattered.

Tough to win games only scoring one run. Especially when in the playoffs. Marist has some more talent coming in with new freshman class. They're going to be right back here next year.

A single poster, not as much anymore, can create a large volume on a subject.

Parents would much rather have an excuse for failure than work for themselves and celebrate others ' success.
