It was that time, and even the children knew their mother had important stuff to do today. She roused them early, giving them five minutes to get themselves ready before they left the den. "Mommy, why are we getting up so early? Is it the pack meeting?" Marigold wanted to know. Irina simply nodded yes and led them to the clearing where she'd decided to hold all pack meetings. She tipped back her head and let loose a mighty howl. 

Belladonna was the first to arrive, her tails swishing around her legs. She nodded to Irina and sat down near the edge of the clearing. Irina liked Belladonna-she had mettle and talent. There was a decent chance she'd rise to the rank of beta one day. 

Belladonna stifled a yawn. "Good morning, Queen Irina, young ones. What's on the schedule today?" she asked. 

I have an announcement or two to make, Belladonna; and then I will be introducing our two newest members, Irina replied. 

"Mama, what's the announcement?" wondered Rambaldi. Irina smiled. You'll just have to see, won't you? Her thoughts turned to Alistair, the beautiful new male. She wondered when he'd show up.
