He had finally had the warmth of a den, and it seemed all was starting to fit into place again. Irina truly had granted him such a great gift by welcoming him into her home, and allowing him refuge from his demons. It was something he knew he couldn't quite say, because how does one go about saying he'd lost his child and the other had passed away without looking like a horrible father? He knew he was, he constantly had that guilt of it. Redd was more than likely suffering, hating him now.
He had settled in a likely abandoned fox den, not too far from where he had come in. It was perfect, a gentle waft of the cold saltwater air that blew in, and a giant gorgeous pine tree that loomed above to keep the snow out. It was only the day after he had come, his sleep had been seemingly hours of just him catching up on what he had missed. This dream seemed so real. He was back with Persephone, only she had not died during her labor. The smile on his face as he saw Firefly and her waiting, but where was Redd?
A howl broke through his dream, waking him from his slumber as he had wondered about his son. Why was he not in the dream, why did they look like them except . . . not? He knew that was what he remembered them as, but why could he not remember the sparkle in Persephones blue eyes, the small white hairs in her pitch black pelt. Why couldn't he see the twinkling flecks in Fireflies eyes, or her streaks of white across her chest and head. He sighed as he rose to his feet, climbing out of his den. His pelt had clouded less than when he had first gotten here, but his stars and colors still could not show through.
His body brought him to the clearing, where the Alphess stood. He could see children beside her, were they hers? He decided not to stare or prod, his eyes flicking to another female who sat before he bowed his head to show his respects to the Alphess. This pack was quite small, but it was home. He rose his cranium as his clouded body sat behind a ways from the female in the Alphess' court. "Hello, Queen Irina." He spoke as he curled his banner around his paws. "I still haven't quite decided on which ranking I'd like to try to go for, perhaps you can decide once I've shown myself worthy."
