She was so, so, so grateful that she could have a home here. “Thank you, Aeolus, truly.” Jinthe’s voice still sounded a bit squeaky to her, but she forced herself to keep going. “I understand the rules.” She smiled at him as he offered her the fish. “Thank you!” Her glow pulsed softly in delight, hunger, and relief. A trout, even! It had been a while since she’d tasted fish, she sensed, but trout would be something new. It was odd to the Tribrid lass how she could recognize that she hadn’t eaten a particular food in a long time, but that she couldn’t remember who her family was or how old she was or where she had come from. She tentatively bit into the trout, assaulted with flavors that were wholly new. Jinthe forced herself to eat somewhat slowly. It felt like she hadn’t eaten in months, and she was sure that if she ate any faster, she wouldn’t be able to keep a single bite in.
Jinthe’s flowers were wilted, but she sensed the lilies on her neck perking up. Malnutrition had set in. She was famished, and the flowers and leaves along her back reflected that; with the first few bites she felt alive again. “Thank you so much. I will gladly stay in Sabertooth as a sigma.”
“It started under neon lights, and then it all got dark!”
