Tyche smiled softly at Fire and Earth. She had never really played like this with her own siblings, being sensitive and shy. She ducked her head at Earth’s question. “I . . . we can’t find my brother Lux,” she admitted, sniffling. “He disappeared, and nobody can find him.” She had run, teary, from her new den after a loose dead leaf had randomly reminded her of her lost family. Tyche’s thin body, slightly emaciated from lack of proper nutrition due to her plague symptoms, trembled as she tried to compose herself. “I apologize . . . it’s been a stressful week.” Lux’s disappearance had rekindled Tyche’s fears of abandonment that had started with Artemis’ death and been nurtured with Aegaeon’s death. What if everyone she loved died or left her, leaving her alone with nobody to rely on? What if she would never become a mother, never be able to live a full life? What if she was doomed to be alone?
