Castiel nodded at Megaera’s introduction, filing the information away. Niece of the Vampire Queen. Interesting. “Well . . . how are we going to make this work? This arranged marriage thing? How do you feel about it?” Megaera’s words to Cas prompted him to think. While she stared into the lake, he explained thoughtfully, “I look at it as the fact that I am helping keep the peace in Starfall. I certainly don’t love the idea of an arranged marriage, but you seem like a goodhearted woman with a clever and sensible head on her shoulders, and so I don’t worry.” He spoke earnestly, the words coming slowly and thoughtfully off his tongue. “For the most part, I just have a hope that we can make it work. I think a good love is one built upon over time, not a simple “love at first sight” situation.”
Megaera began to speak about her thoughts on romantic relationships, touching on her vampire identity. Cas thought it unfortunate Megaera’s bloodline held her back from finding a worthy love, though he didn’t say so. He thought for a few moments, trying to identify the words he was wanting to use. “It is what it is, I suppose. True, some relationships do fall to pieces, but I find a lot of that is bad communication or hasty partnering. Perhaps a mix. Some pairs aren’t compatible but only acknowledge it too late.”
