There was a time when all Americans embraced capitalism and economic freedom including New York Democrats.

Now they (and frankly a few Republicans) seek political success by promising free stuff paid for by successful people.

The best way to help poor people is for the government to stop interfering in the market. A robust economy will produce economic opportunity for everyone.

Reknowned economist Walter Williams had a formula for success for young people:

-Get a job…any kind.
-Be law-abiding.
-Get married before you have kids.
-Stay in school to get an education to support success.

Among all so-called ethnic groups the poverty rates among those who do these simple things is in the lower single digits.
