They hate Trumps tariffs because, well they hate Trump. But historically, Democrats have been strong advocates for this type of market interference, especially if they think they benefit THEIR constituents like labor unions for example.

Now, tariffs and other politician-induced market manipulations can successfully force businesses to locate (or even relocate) to America. We can raise the tariffs on foreign produced cars and car parts, for example, but that just means that Americans will go to Mexico or Canada to buy the same automobile for less money. And that means less demand for American products…and fewer jobs eventually.

That is why I prefer to trust the market to determine where things are produced. Reward competition and let free people determine the value of goods and services. I trust millions of free people to make those decisions rather than a few people who think they are ordained to think for the rest of us.
