A false dichotomy (or false dilemma) is when a binary choice is presented when there are actually a range of options.
In this case I consider it applicable because the post to which I was replying implied that the choice was between was and permitting Iran's leadership to go about it's horrid business unopposed. There are (or at least were...) many other options short of using military force.
