As far as SST, I hold that it was a lack of market viability that caused a the US airlines to not want this thing rammed down their throat that caused the government to pull the plug on what was in reality the same sort of hideous over-run contract management that every bureaucrat expects with government (military) aircraft procurement. Though not military, it was a national pride thing. Once national pride was assuaged, it was a commercial albatross.
As far as Concord, it makes no sense to me that the bleatings of the hairy-armpitted on Long Island mattered a whit to the governments of France, the UK, or the airlines that flew it. It never flew at supersonic speeds over a foot of US territory; ever. There was no sonic boom to be heard.
Once national pride was upheld, it was pure economics that made Concord fly or not.
