That means I'm looking for someone to pander to me or make me feel I'm right, rather than a source that reports an event, challenges me to think, and allows me to draw my own conclusion as to my position on the subject.
I do not trust a source I consistently disagree with.
That means they have an agenda. A news source picking and choosing what to report and how to present it is not a news source.
In short, I do not trust a source who does not know the difference between news and op/ed.
Unfortunately, there are no reporters anymore and there is therefore no press. It is now up to me to read or watch something, then back out the who, what, when, and where, do that from several "sources" to ferret out those four and those four only, then interprete for myself.
That last is the crux of the problem. It is not their place to interpret for me. That is my privilege and indeed my duty as a citizen. Unfortunately, we have become too used to being lazy to the bone and letting them interpret events for us and tell us how we should feel about it based on a mutually agreed upon agenda.
That laziness has cost us our ability to reason as a people, to consider events and their significance, and to draw conclusions and vision for ourselves. Instead, we believe what is served up for us to believe.
