To be clear, my position with respect to these people has not changed in those ten years.

My issue was not with the rant, nor the intensity of the rant. Indeed we shared that branch.

We differed on two things (and we perhaps still do). One was the notion that the opposition was a clear choice of good. I still believe them to be almost as despicable and certainly equally culpable.

Our real issue between us was the personal attacks on a gentle man who I knew personally, albeit one who did not share your or my political views. Indeed he left here in anger having been called "republiscum", if my memory of the epithet is correct.

The issue was the same as is now the norm everywhere. No longer can one discuss one's differences in a reasonable manner. I used the term "hatred" then as I took exception, and I stand by the notion it was and is unnecessary and unwarranted.

My pushback was a defence of civility in disagreement, not the personal position nor its intensity.
