When I got my first monies from a paper round I did in my youth, I splashed out on a box of chocolate fingers and scoffed the lot in one sitting just because I could.
I tend not to hark back to my childhood, devoid as it was of much pleasantry, however there is one thing I partake of still as for some unfathomable reason it brings back to mind some of the small chinks of happy light that were scattered throughout that period.
Pork dripping on fresh crusty bread or heart attack sandwich as the more delicate food flowers would have it. Pig fat and brown jelly sprinkled with salt is my go to comfort blanket when I feel like connecting with some part of my past no matter how ephemeral and intangible that part may seem.
Hmmm where did I put that loaf of bread?
