Plus, for all we know, given that Colbert's show won't end until 10 months from now when they already HAVE their merger in place, they just might cancel their plans to cancel both Colbert and The Late Show. That isn't good for THEIR bottom line any more than not getting the merger would be.
Two can play the deception/power pull games. What could trump do if they did that? Squeal that they broke their "word" that they'd give in to him? Riiiiight. If he did that, he'd be "hammering nails into his own coffin" and PROVING everyone's case against him for strong-arming the media like a king or a DICTATOR.
Then again, he is THAT stupid, so who knows?
