I will be checking for things being organized in my community. The last one here had a large march organized but also smaller setups along the route and in local neighborhoods as well.

Surprisingly a strongly worded letter sent via snail mail actually has an impact. Especially if you can link it to real world experiences and how it effects you.

Usually you get a thank you form letter from everyone but occasionally you may get a more specific response of inquiry.
