My daughter, J, has a master's level OT license along with a PhD in psychology. She was initially looking at specializing in hand therapy. She hated the restricted focus so decided to use her psychology degree** also to go into general OT with a focus on the mental health side of it, creating the NH pilot program to bring mental health aspects into Medicaid's OT care here in NH where it didn't exist until she got the grants to do a pilot program with both Concord and Manchester's major hospitals.

Anyway, she told me that OT hand therapy is one of the highest paid positions as well as one of the most difficult due to a majority of patients not doing their daily OT exercises because no one is watching, then blaming the OT for their lack of progress. So, I am delighted to read that you are taking them seriously and recognizing your responsibility in rehabilitation



** She originally planned to open a child psychology practice, which was always her passion before realizing why the burnout rates in it were SO HIGH. It's not the children, it's their parents who create the burnout by yanking their kids the second the doctor discusses THEIR role in their children's issues. Incredibly frustrating to know what is wrong and how to repair it but being totally unable to help the afflicted children once their parents get so angry they yank them out.
