I know what he is getting at, and it is fair comment, but this is not quite so.
The Liberal Democrats were in coalition with the Conservatives in the UK government from 2010 to 2015 and managed to introduce several of their policies.
The Liberal Democrats were in coalition with Labour in the Scottish Parliament for two terms, 1999 to 2003 and 2003 to 2007 and Jim Wallace (Lib Dem) was acting first minister three times.
Since 2021 the Scottish Greens have ministerial positions within the Scottish government in an agreement with the SNP.
Hope you enjoy the Green Party conference Freddie.
And wear the shirt if you so wish.
But the Greens and to a degree the Lib Dems have the luxury of presenting any manifesto they wish in the certain knowledge that they never will be required to make good on their pledges. I do notice as an aside that eco protestors only protest where they will be pandered to and not harmed.
I wonder for instance why Greta Thunberg does not cycle her bamboo bicycle to Moscow to say ' how dare you ' to Putin, asking him to stop causing massive toxic pollution as a result of the war. I would advise her not to fly, especially when returning.
In the event that she does not disappear, fall ill or fall out of a high window, she could continue to Bejing and tell the Chinese to stop burning coal, then taking the same message to India on the way home.
That of course is a personal view, unconnected with Radio Caroline.
We just invested in panels to reduce our power bill. The 45 panels cover our useage on a reasonable day and when we have our 12KW, we feed the rest to Cobra Mist. I have seen the panels making 22KW at times.
The ideal place for the panels would have we been the flat roof of the building, but a colony of rare birds got there first and are protected.
We are ' considering ' 15 more panels which will reach the capacity that the inverter can handle, providing another 6.5KW in good conditions.
Other AM operators could have chosen solar as most AM sites cover a big ground area, but they chose to quit.
I don't think that an endorsement from the Green Party will do much for us. Just wear the shirt and see if if gets any conversations started.
PM.
Hi Peter,
I am off to the Green Party Conference in Brighton, in early Oct., I am not a member, and have never been before, so I don't know how many attend, but about 800 early bird tickets have already been sold.
A mate is coming down from Stoke and staying with me, so he's paying for me, as he's saving on hotel costs. So, I thought why not, could be interesting, then again I may spend most of the time in the bar, hic!
Anyway, it occurred to me that it is an excellent opportunity to do a bit of flagging waving for Caroline, by wearing my 'Powered by the Sun' T-shirt and handing out some leaflets. I'll also try my best to get a mention from the stage, and by Mark Steel, who is headlining the stand up comedy night. Worth a shot, if you don't ask, you don't get.
So, I thought I would ask for an update on the solar system here, as others will now doubt be interested, and it will give me extra information to use in conversation with anyone daft enough to start one with me!
I seem to remember there was a suggestion of re-locating some of the panels, would that be because the higher part of the building casts a shadow over some of them at times?
Also, I am sure I heard mention of perhaps adding a few more panels on the fundraiser weekend.
So, perhaps you'll be kind enough to give us an update on how it is performing, and plans for improving it.
