The only place in the south east that has pop/rock playing over the airwaves now is 603/1242 and 648khz If you are in a car that has AM you are running out of options to listen.
In the short term it is a small boost to get passing listeners for Caroline, but is the power boost worth it if Ofcom approve?
It will satisfy some supporters but think funds could be diverted to better investment than chasing a dwindling band of listeners.

It's a dead band for sure. Probably on their way to turn off 603 in Kent which is still on as I type this.
603 has very good coverage, If it were mine, I would be tempted to apply for a bit more power & fit solar cells.
