I have the opposite experience with HP Envy machines Jackie which I have found very reliable and inexpensive to buy.
Like you did, I subscribe and have done for years. It cost me 3/4 pounds a month for my usage and although some may see it as expensive it meets my needs and is very convenient.
I have never had an issue with HP's admin but the way you appear to have been treated is not impressive.
