…is that the majority of the non-book reader TV show fans liked the medieval political intrigue part of the story way more than the fantasy part of the story.
And with HotD in particular, it’s really hard to insert CGI of people literally riding on dragons into a dialogue-driven show while still trying to keep the suspension of disbelief that is required for a show like this. When they can just burn all their enemies in a matter of minutes if they wanted to, it’s hard to make it feel like anything else matters.
*Inportant caveat to thread title - horrendous writing by the TV writers also plagued the last half of GoT.
