Seems that we have generally built the best stuff in the world, at great expense, and sold a lot of it to other countries in part because they figured that some level of US backing was part of the package. And part of the reason for that expense is spreading the production as widely as possible to get continued political support for the massive expense. Now Trump is showing the world that we are an unreliable partner that can sell out a longtime ally for no particular reason. And Ukraine is showing the world how to make relatively cheap and effective weapons in great numbers despite the obstacles they face. I'm sure our military/industrial complex is thrilled to see European and Middle Eastern countries signing development deals with Ukraine. I assume the stuff we build will be even more expensive for us if we sell less of it to other countries.
