…to save money for Social Security is not a great idea unless there’s some sort of safety net for people doing manual labor, the trades, etc. And it needs to be a lot broader and easier than the current disability system, which is not at all set up for this.
Yeah, the politicians and think tankers who push the idea would have no problem doing their jobs past 65 or 67. But if you’re a bricklayer, not so much.

I’ve been in my new job for about 6 months and I love it. We’re a small scrappy distillery…so I get to wear a bunch of hats and have a lot more influence than I did at my last job.
That said, the physical part is way more demanding than I expected. I was arrogant and this is much harder. I’m adapting but have been thinking, if this works…can I do this til I’m 60 or so?
I would imagine you find a way to make it work given the alternative…but it’s daunting.
