They also agreed that that’s involvement with stealing from the farm was a reaction to being threatened and being released from his job. Prior to this experience, Eddie had shown a decent amount of kindness, which you could interpret as weakness if Ned actually was secretly stealing from him prior to asking for more money.


Prior to this episode, Eddie also showed an extreme amount of practical efforts to reduce risk. He also showed bravo loyalty to those in his life. Despite the challenges they might face. Jimmy is a prime example of that. Now, not only did Ned retaliate in the stupidest of ways since he had no experience in dealing with ruthless mobs and had no control over them, the rest of the crew are also motivated more by fear than loyalty.

That may affect Susie‘s motivation, and perhaps his agreement to go along with Susie‘s suggestion was more at cultivating a stronger relationship with the glass family. And while we don’t know how much money each worker was making, we can probably guess it was someplace in the neighborhood of 30 to 50,000 pounds per year each. I don’t recall if they said that the glass families cut of 45 million paid for labor, but I do recall statements that for 10% of the proceeds all he needed to do is look the other way. That indicates that Susie may have taken on the expense labor, which would mean that each of the farmworkers was 1/10 of a percent of their cost. Seems pretty stupid to risk your organization for 20% of a 10th of a percent of your total income.

Susie or Bobby glass might make that choice, but Eddie from season one until that point would not in that situation. Of course, all of the other morally reprehensible act that he took on in that point could’ve led him to doing something like that, but this was literally the first time that he actually punched down in my opinion. However, as noted when drinking some details, may not sink in and be retained so I’m sure you have some response the point out how utterly ridiculous my position is.
