We are doing better at the moment than our peer countries but that ignores that we did way worse earlier (France peaked at 7.1% while we hit 9%) and that it's not comforting for an average American to look at France or the UK and think "well we are better than them". That also ignores our enormous strengths as an economy and country. We have abundant food, energy, and land that helps contribute to lower costs of living and in theory being less exposed to inflation pressures. Additionally, the main driver of inflation today is the rise in services, not goods. All of those wage increases that people here rightly celebrate are passed on to consumers and that shows up in the data.
