where most people can go out to eat on their weekend off from their non-life-threatening job, and reasonably expect not to be poisoned by the food at the restaurant. Too many people seem to think this is a natural state of being. In reality it's the result of nearly a century and a half of hard-won lessons learned about the oversight required to ensure that corporations aren't working their employees to death, or letting them fall into food prep machines, or just generally fucking over the world at large for their own short-term gain.
The people at the top right now are more than happy to let everyone think that, so they can roll back all that oversight in the name of efficiency. They want to crash the car, because they believe they're not only insulated from the fallout, but that they stand to gain from it.
