I don't think it was difficult to change the cartridge, as long as your turntable was built to accommodate changeable cartridges. Changing the stylus within the cartridge can also be accomplished if, again, your cartridge is built that way. Assuming you have a high-end turntable, the answer is probably yes for both. But I have no idea how modern turntables differ from those made 50-75 years ago.
