The basketball tourney has so many spots available that while you’re not taking the 64 (or 68) best teams you’re still taking the top 30+, which is essentially anyone that has a legit shot at winning the thing
If the 4th best team in either the BT or the SEC aren’t already ranked high enough to get in without this requirement then I don’t want them getting in
