my most recent employer offered an HSA with a matching %....but it came with a very, VERY limited health coverage (high deductible, low basic coverage). In the end I was getting more savings donated to my HSA than I paid out for the coverage. Think I would spend $100 but get back $200.
I did it for the HSA.
Somehow the insurance companies talked to each other and a routine physical last year was denied by the first HC provider because they chose to say that they were no longer primary. I never told them that nor did I provide my secondary coverage to my dr.
Now my doctor is trying to get me to pay $600 for denied claims from the physical, because the first insurance denied coverage and they didn't submit to the second insurance company....and they didn't contact me asking for the other insurance number.
How can an insurance company decide if they are primary or secondary on their own? I'm researching it, but it shouldn't be able to happen.
