These are historically bad shooting teams, and to have 3 in 6 seasons is pretty crazy.
For context, over the previous 40 years since the advent of the three point line we had five teams TOTAL that shot below 33%.
There are lots of possible explanations. Part of it is surely volume--teams in the 80s were far more selective. But 2020 shot far fewer threes than either '23 or '25.
Of course It could be just random noise. After all, we shot really well in '21 and '24. And maybe it's just truly getting unlucky with rosters of bad shooters.
But maybe there is also something about the offense we're running and types of threes we're repeatedly putting up with volume. (And I say this fully acknowledging we miss an insane amount of wide open threes.)
