Illinois is adding some more depth and competition to its new-look defensive line. Copiah-Lincoln Community College defensive lineman Joshua Davis signed with Illinois, the program announced on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Mississippi native is expected to enroll at Illinois this summer, and he currently has three seasons of eligibility remaining. Davis chose the Illini over FBS offers from Southern Miss, Georgia State, Troy, Louisiana Tech and Old Dominion, among others. 247Sports ranks Davis as the No. 20 JUCO prospect in the Class of 2026 and the No. 7 JUCO defensive lineman in the class. As a freshman at Co-Lin last fall, Davis totaled 21 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks in nine games. Illinois defensive line coach Jordan Thomas led the Illini's pursuit of Davis.
