I think I am behind Raja. Seems to be active, sharp, and is leading the polls and has plenty of cash.

Robin Kelly seems like a backbencher in Congress, and Julianna Stratton has never been to Washington, only had a couple years in the State House, and who knows what she does as Lt. Governor. Think JB should have stayed out of it.

Collect the college towns for UVA/JMU/Tech/Radford together instead of lumping you in with Danville, Mecklenburg, and Amelia. The shape is a little funky but it seems to be a better cultural/demographic fit.

I think it’s far more likely that seeing the final few seconds was the main reason that they posted the video than that they posted it despite that or in error.

Edit: they have made the political calculation that being accused of racism by liberals is politically beneficial for them, regardless of whether it’s the result of actually being racist or just stuff that is maybe kind of racist. They no longer care if there’s even a plausible deniability defense.

And there is still huge downside risk as he marshalls the authoritarian power the Carl Schmitt acolytes on the Supreme Court have gifted him, and the self-interested supine Republican Congress has ceded to him, to undermine and eliminate democracy itself to ensure his continued rule through his continuing decline into advanced senility and dementia.

I think there’s a broad class of issues relating to alliances and international relations where it’s basically Humpty Dumpty. Trump broke things and even if we elect someone who really loves NATO and international organizations and our alliances, they won’t be able to restore things to the way they were. Once you wrap your Lamborghini around a light pole, taking your foot off the accelerator doesn’t turn it back into a functioning car.

Then there is the damage that’s been done to federal capacity, to trust in government, to scientific research, etc. Here the damage is reparable, but again a change in leadership will not undue what was done. It will take a significant effort of an extended period of time, a decade or more, just to get us back to where we were in 2024.

As far as our basic form of government, checks and balances, and the rise of an explicitly authoritarian central power, it’s possible you are right, but I don’t think these bells can be unrung. If the only reason the president isn’t able to rule as an authoritarian is because they don’t want to, that’s no longer really a democratic republic, and it’s not a sustainable system. I am also skeptical a Democratic president in 2028 (if it happens) will adopt the Biden/Garland head in the sand approach of pretending the last 4 years didn’t happen and everything is fine, as long as they mostly observe traditional norms. The Dem base will want blood, so the political prosecutions and abuses of power to advance party interests are likely to continue and be ratified by bipartisan adoption. Internationally, we are done. Every other head of state is now painfully aware that we're no more than four years from this happening again. Even assuming Trump is somehow uniquely evil, stupid, or some combination thereof, the fact that we elected him (twice!) proves we can't be trusted. There's no longer any delusion about what we really represent, which is refreshing in a way, but has some downsides, to put it mildly.

as written, the response is to criminalize a lot of recreational riders (which is where you got the RAGBRAI people all pissed off, which I am one of those so I get it)... and the people who of course get forgotten are the people who don't own a car or can't drive.. you're making it literally illegal to get to places of employment other than walking down roads with no sidewalks.
