And thank you Beth. I always wondered who was able to create such magnificent works of art which I believe may still be wearable! Nice research as usual. Is the jewellery house Hancock still around? And to Ashdean, thanks for your correction, but I was sure I had read somewhere that the Dowager Duchess was in service at some point to either the Queen or her mother maybe she could have been a lady in waiting then. While the various items do not suit modern fashions, it must have created an impressive appearance at the time it was made. I wonder how often it (or parts of it) was actually worn? It has been creating interest ever since it was assembled. In 1857 the Illustrated London News published the following item.
