Others sketches are new. Hopefully, we might be able to identify a few more jewels. As you say some of them are already known but others not. And it would be interesting now to see if we can spot any of these pieces worn by any of her descendants (or indeed by the Queen herself). Some are well known pieces, but especially all the bracelets are unknown to me. The Russian diamond and sapphire brooch has been worn by Sonja since the early 1970s. Mette-Marit also wore it to one of her first official dinner at the Royal Palace, shortly after the engagement to CP Haakon was announced. The pearl anchor brooch has also been worn by Sonja since the early 1970s, often when she travels with the Royal Yacht "Norge". Queen Maud was also photographed with this brooch. Brooch from King Haakon" I think you're correct. And the wedding gift from Lord and Lady Rothschild is the bow brooch right above King Haakon's brooch on the coronation dress, isn't it? The one which now belongs to Princess Astrid.

The diamond "heraldic rose" brooch from the groom is often referred to as being Maud's seven point diamond brooch http://i.pinimg.com/736x/48/2e/b2/482eb29cc3abe555dbd6d8d8eae8b234.jpg (now Princess Astrid/The Ferner family) - but it's no match with the sketch Beth posted. Wedding gift from Maharaja?  Queen Maud wore a large diamond sun brooch in the Norwegian Parliament in November 1905 and again to her coronation in June 1906. News reports referred to it as "the diamond sun brooch she received as a wedding gift from the Maharaja of Cooch Behar" (i.e. Nripendra Narayan) in 1896. What a very interesting find Knightship! That opens up a whole new field of investigation. I strongly suspect that the Norwegian press would have had its information from the Royal Court, and will be accurate. The Maharaja and Ranee of Cooch Behar gave Queen Mary a substantial wedding gift and are likely to have given a similarly impressive gift to Queen Maud. I will try to see what I can find in the UK press. According to the UK press, King Haakon gave Queen Maud 2 separate brooches for their wedding. One sketch (said to be the sun brooch) Another sketch The new sketch appears to be another brooch -- but is it? Oh for a photo or two!

So far I haven't found a reference to the Maharaja of Cooch Behar giving Queen Maud a wedding gift or of HM wearing such a gift. I have discovered that he was in the UK in 1896 so it is highly likely that a gift would have been given. Hopefully, my internet connection problems are fixed, and I will be able to access some other databases today.

I have this international news report, but I'm afraid I forgot to write down the date and the name of the newspaper: Princess Ragnhild wore the diamond coronation brooch during a state visit from Portugal in June 1980.
