The Queen’s antique Girandole earrings Posted by Dave on February 20, 2022, 5:49 pm On closer inspection of the earrings below in the first link worn by QEII; I at times wonder if they are not the diamonds seen at the chest of Queen Alexandra in the second link of a picture below. They look larger on Queen Alexandra, but they are of the same shape of the Girandole earrings and may look more pronounced because of the black and white photo. What do others think? Queen Alexandra used Queen Victoria's emerald earrings with small diamond fringes to adorn the front of her skirt for the coronation.

Queen Alexandra has attached what are believed to be emerald drops and Queen Victoria's emerald earrings to them. There is a larger diamond bow near HM's waist line. Some believe that this bow is the same as the one later worn by Princess Margaret with a turquoise substituted for what everyone assumes must have been an emerald centre. Others dispute that it is the same bow. I personally don't know.

If so, they are two of the pear shaped pearls in the Dagmar necklace and the one on the Dagmar cross. Queen Alexandra wore the necklace as a bodice ornament for the coronation. It is so easy to get confused by the indistinct older photos.

I understand that they are real jewels. I think there are a few other coloured gems with diamond borders interspersed between all the other glitter -- but I have no idea what they are.

Or they could be her City of London wedding gift earrings and the Lahore diamond. Just guessing.

I think you are correct!! All the diamond sizes seem to fit. Queen Alexandra didn't wear the coronation earrings as earrings, nor did she use the Lahore diamond in her crown.
