This is a good lesson for everyone.

You really need to do your homework, and even then the decision is going to be a leap of faith. Unfortunately, players with eligibility remaining rarely want to do anything that could further jeopardize their playing time or ability to find a new home. Unfortunate reality, but I certainly understand.

Looking at assistant tenure is a good barometer, as is portal activity, coach contract status, and win/loss record (inference of stability).
